Cleaning leather and artificial leather

If it is now furniture covers or clothing, leather wants to be cared for regularly. But it depends on the right care, because otherwise the beautiful piece can only be disfigured.
Plastics and synthetic leather lose their softeners over time and become dry, brittle and tear. This process can only be influenced in moderation. Regular cleaning and sealing delays this process. In particular, it prevents the surfaces from fading.
To prevent fading or the formation of cracks, artificial leather should be cared for regularly. This includes not only regular impregnation in the case of shoes, but also polishes and waxes that are available for purchase, which clean the artificial leather and also keep it flexible. Whether you want to clean leather or clean faux leather, these tips should always be followed. In the case of covers, you should clean the imitation leather by first roughly vacuuming it with a vacuum cleaner. Especially in the case of furniture, attention should be paid here to corners and edges. Only then can you clean the leather by wiping it with a damp cloth. It is important that the cloth is only damp and not wet, otherwise the seams will be damaged. In the case of stubborn stains or discoloration, you should still avoid strong cleaning agents. It is better to clean the imitation leather by using a mild detergent. This should always be smeared in the direction of the grain and then allowed to dry well. It is important not to rub too hard when applying it. To be able to clean the leather and keep it supple, it is rubbed with Benke – leather balm. This is especially useful for car seats. If something is spilled, damp baby wipes are very helpful for cleaning the leather. In the case of clothing or shoes, the dirt should first be roughly removed with a soft brush. Then wipe damp, as already described, and treat with leather balm. First rub in the leather balm in an invisible place and observe whether there are no stains.
